Route 66 - between Grants and Gallup

About 75 miles west of Albuquerque, between Grants and Gallup, we left I40 to take a section of Route 66 that straddles the interstate.  Near Bluewater, NM, close to the Continental Divide mark, we came across the old Swap Meet 66, a site full of old tires, hubcaps and other junk all guarded by a barbed wire fence and KEEP OUT signs.  Across the road was the pink Tomahawk Bar that had a few customers this morning. The scenery afforded a backdrop of red sandstone cliffs with a continuing parade of freight trains. The Continental Divide, known as the "backbone" of the US, marks the highest point on the length of Route 66, 7,275' above sea level.
